Primrose Retirement Communities is hiring for a Life Enrichment and Cognitive Wellbeing Specialist to be responsible for directing our team of Life Enrichment Coordinators and Directors of Memory Care through coaching, training, and program development. With a focus on creating and maintaining engaging, person-centered activities and programming that address the emotional, physical, spiritual, purposeful, intellectual, and social dimensions of each resident.
The Specialist ensures that all resident programs and services meet and exceed company standards and expectations, promoting a high-quality, person-centered care environment.
- Ensure all residents and their families are treated with dignity and respect.
- Demonstrate and promote the Primrose Mission Statement and Core Values consistently.
- Provide clear direction, goals, and guidance to Life Enrichment Coordinators and Directors of Memory Care to meet company programming standards and participation expectations.
- Collaborate with Regional Teams (Operations Managers, Nursing Managers, and Sales Managers) to meet clinical, sales, and operational benchmarks.
- Regularly update and provide status reports to the Director of Operations and EVP of Operations on key initiatives and outcomes.
- Conduct formal coaching sessions focused on team accountability, goal achievement, and resident satisfaction.
- Work with the Training and Development Coordinator to create and implement training modules that promote person-centered care and incorporate the 6 Dimensions of Wellness (Emotional, Physical, Spiritual, Purposeful, Intellectual, and Social).
- Coach Executive Directors on calendar approval processes and provide performance feedback.
- Facilitate the optimization of software programs, nurse call systems, and other relevant technology to enhance resident care.
- Collaborates with the regional Operations and Nurse Manager on regulatory compliance for Silver Lace services across all operational states.
- Mentor staff in solving resident issues, managing behavioral expressions, and ensuring high-quality care.
- Facilitate regular meetings with Silver Lace care teams to review resident care comprehensively.
- Work closely with the Dining Service Specialist to ensure the dining experience aligns with program expectations.
- Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing team to share inspiring stories and successes.
- Participate in candidate interviews to assess qualifications, skills, and cultural fit, making informed hiring recommendations.
- Assist clinical staff in assessing prospective residents to determine the appropriateness of community services according to the resident’s level of care.
- Develop onboarding education programs for Assisted Living staff in communities adding Memory Care units.
- Spend adequate field time to mentor, develop, and maintain Primrose Life Enrichment standards, driving results.
- Engage in interdepartmental calls and training opportunities, and coordinate community education topics with Silver Lace teams.
- Assist in driving potential Community Outreach communications and connections.
- Perform any other related duties as requested by the Director of Operations.
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in memory care within a senior living or long-term care environment.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease, other types of dementia, and related memory impairments.
- Experience with person-centered care philosophy and techniques for addressing challenging behavioral expressions preferred.
- Previous management experience required; multi-facility management preferred.
- Experience as a Recreational Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and/or Dementia Care Specialist in senior care desired.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of residents, associates of the organization, and/or outside professionals.
- Activity Coordinator Certification and CDP certification preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
