Nurse Practitioner – Medical Evaluation Exams (Part-Time)

Location: Onsite

Days/

Hours:

Flexible between Monday, Wednesday, Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Practice Authority: Full Practice State (SD)

State regulations require a defined number of post-licensure practice hours prior to independent practice. (1,040)

Position Overview

This position focuses on conducting medical evaluation examinations for individuals undergoing eligibility or separation-related assessments. This is a non-treatment, evaluation-only role emphasizing detailed medical record review, physical examinations, clinical documentation, and medical opinion development.

The Nurse Practitioner will perform objective assessments and submit accurate, timely documentation using a secure electronic health record system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct standardized medical evaluation examinations and assessments
  • Review and analyze medical records relevant to assigned evaluations
  • Obtain comprehensive health histories related to identified conditions
  • Perform focused and comprehensive physical examinations
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests as appropriate
  • Develop clinical findings and medical opinions based on exam results
  • Complete and submit documentation within required timelines
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative team members as needed
  • Average evaluation time: 1.5–3 hours per exam
  • Daily volume varies based on exam type and complexity
Required Qualifications
  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner eligible for licensure in South Dakota
  • Meets applicable state practice requirements
  • Strong assessment, documentation, and clinical reasoning skills
  • Comfortable in investigative, non-treatment clinical settings
  • Proficient with electronic health record systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience conducting medical evaluations, exams, or reviews
  • Background in disability, occupational health, or claims-based assessments
  • Experience working with complex medical histories
