Precise Systems seeks a Senior Chemist with at least 5 years of experience in organic synthesis, small molecule purification and analysis. This position involves various skillsets related to organic synthesis (reaction development, optimization and scale‑up), small molecule downstream processing (i.e., liquid‑liquid extraction, centrifugation, separation chromatography, distillation, filtration, etc.), analytical chemistry (GC/MS, HPLC, LC–MS, NMR, etc.) and requires dedicated problem‑solving/keen attention to detail.

In addition to planning experiments, performing reactions and separations, designing and executing analytical methods, the successful applicant will possess a demonstrated aptitude and experience for working both independently and in collaboration with other team members, as this position can span multiple disciplines to include biologists, chemists, chemical engineers, material scientists, etc.

• Develop and optimize chemical reactions for the transformation of biologically derived molecules; scale‑up reactions and methods up to kilogram scale
• Execute chemical separations to purify and quantify small molecule products
• Perform chemical analysis including GC‑MS/FID, HPLC, LC–MS, NMR, UV‑Vis etc. to quantify and qualify product identity, yield and purity
• Responsible for routine maintenance of equipment
• Keep detailed records of laboratory operations and compile data in regular technical reports

• Ph.D. in chemistry, or related field experience

• Strong experience in organic synthesis, reaction development and scale‑up; small molecule separations and purification methods
• Knowledge and experience in analytical chemistry (GC‑MS/FID, HPLC, LC–MS, NMR, UV‑Vis etc.)
• Support technology transfer of methods and protocols
• Document in laboratory notebooks, authorship of technical reports and standard operating procedures
• Interact as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for audiences with varying technical backgrounds
• Effective time management skills; self‑starter; attention to detail
• Ability to independently design and execute experiments; critical thinking/problem solving

• Small molecule synthesis and separations experience
• Analytical chemistry experience
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply topics outside their area of expertise

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract‑specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $89,190.40 to $ (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems’ total compensation package.
