Employment Coach, Education ​/ Teaching

Description

The Employment Coach will provide community based assistance to youth and adults seeking vocational skills and independence through employment of various places of employment in various industries.

The Employment Coach’s primary role shall include preparation, education, training, job search/placement and coaching support authorized by the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) in a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR’s mission statement.

Primary location for this position – Harford County, Cecil County and Baltimore County

Monday - Friday 4 pm - 9 pm.

• High school diploma required. Para-educator or associates degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Human Services, Human Resources, Marketing and Sales, or related field preferred.
• One to three (1-3) years of experience working with people with differing abilities preferred.
• Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
• Working knowledge of multiple modes of job search platforms.
• Working knowledge of reasonable accommodations and ADA laws.

• Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures as needed.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 70 pounds as needed (with or without assistance).
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours when needed.
• Ability to walk a specific distance as needed.
• Ability to sit for up to 8 hours as needed.
• Ability to verbally provide instructions, prompting and feedback.
• Ability to repetitively stoop, crouch or kneel to model and teach tasks as needed.
• Ability to climb as needed.
• Ability to use hands to carry and handle tools/equipment as needed (as may be required by companies where supported individuals are employed for the purposes of job coaching).
• Ability to reach overhead with arms and hands as needed (as may be required by companies where supported individuals are employed for the purposes of job coaching).
• Ability to hear (with or without devices)
• Ability to see (with or without corrective lens)

• Access to reliable transportation for the entire shift.
• Active valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and no more than two (2) points.
• Maintain proof of current automobile insurance.
• Maintenance of all required training under DDA and DORS guidelines and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region policies and procedures.
• Flexibility of scheduling to meet agency and program needs.

Min. Hourly Wage: $21.10
Max. Hourly Wage: $25.50
