Overview
Principal Social Worker – 37 hours per week across Child and Family Teams.
Grade 13 at £49,282 per annum. All Social Workers within these teams are eligible for a £2,250 market supplement, payable pro rata monthly, review May 2027.
Locations include North - Cynon Principal Office, Aberdare;
South - Ty Elai, Willliamstown;
West - Ty Elai, Williamstown. This is an open-ended advert with location dependent on vacancies at the time.
Our Child and Family Teams specialise in care planning for children who require care and support. This includes cases subject to child protection planning, PLO and Court, in addition to adoption work. A dedicated service enables more focus on risk management to avoid escalation. The overall aim is to reduce the need for PLO, child and family separations, and care proceedings.
RoleSummary
As a Principal Social Worker, you will work in a challenging yet supportive and rewarding team environment. You will be expected to take on a mentoring role for newly qualified practitioners and commit to your own development. You will receive regular informal and formal supervision and may deputise for the Team Manager when required.
Responsibilities- Provide professional leadership and mentoring to colleagues and newly qualified practitioners.
- Deputise for the Team Manager as required and contribute to service development and transformation.
- Engage in supervision and contribute to safeguarding and risk management activities.
- Flexible working where possible, with policies for parents (enhanced maternity, adoption and paternity pay) and agile working practices including home and office working.
- Access to Reflective spaces (psychologist facilitated) and Occupational Health, plus an Employee Assistance Programme.
- 26 days annual leave (rising to 31 after 5 years’ service), with option to purchase up to 10 more pro rata per year.
