Conair is seeking a qualified and experienced Composite Technician to be part of our Programs and Production department. This new position at Conair focuses on the hands-on manufacturing and assembly of large aircraft composite components and structures, using the latest industry methods, technologies and advanced materials. The ideal candidate will have aviation manufacturing experience with a focus on composite materials and processes, and are comfortable working in a production environment that demands precision, and quality.
Conair will offer technical training to successful candidates to enhance their skillset and knowledge to be successful in this new role.
Specific Responsibilities- Manufacture and assemble composite components and structures in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.
- Perform composite layups, bonding, vacuum bagging, curing, trimming, drilling, and finishing of completed parts.
- Use molds, resin injection machines and curing ovens as part of the manufacturing process.
- Assist in fitting and installing final products on aircraft.
- Collaborate with engineers and lead hands to ensure accurate and efficient production.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed.
- Report progress and potential issues to the lead hands or crew leaders.
- Assist in developing technical solutions for complex problems and ensure they align with overall project goals and objectives.
- Assist in implementing measures to improve & exceed product quality requirements
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of composite manufacturing methods, and materials.
- Ability to read, understand, and work directly from engineering drawings, and work instructions to manufacture, modify, and install aircraft composite components and structures.
- Knowledgeable in the use of molds, resin injection machines and curing ovens.
- Skilled in the use of basic hand and power tools and shop equipment.
- Physically capable of performing hands-on manufacturing tasks in a shop/production environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality control and safety.
- Knowledge of aviation safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of personal safety requirements and ability to use all forms of PPE.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability to changing demands.
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised, while maintaining productivity and focus on the task at hand.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Education and Experience
- Grade 12
- Successful completion of an AME training course from a Transport Canada Approved Training Organization is an asset
- 2-5 years of experience in aviation, aircraft interiors, composite manufacturing or related fields.
