Location: Remote
OverviewA valued TELUS client is seeking a seasoned Microsoft Security Engineer to maintain, optimize, and secure their live enterprise environment. This role requires a strong foundation in cybersecurity threat mitigation, optimization and management on desktop and cloud.
You’ll work closely with the internal IT team and be responsible for the day‑to‑day performance and improvement of the security posture.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Microsoft Security Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of Microsoft Security solutions
, ensuring enterprise‑wide protection across cloud and desktop environments. In addition, you will:
- Build, configure, and optimize the Microsoft Defender platform (desktop and cloud) to strengthen threat detection, response, and remediation capabilities.
- Develop and enforce conditional access policies and advanced identity and access management strategies to safeguard organizational assets.
- Administer and enhance Microsoft Purview for compliance, data governance, and information protection across the enterprise.
- Perform daily security operations
, including monitoring, incident response, and risk management, while aligning practices with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework
. - Conduct security audits, identify gaps, and implement remediation plans to ensure robust defense against evolving cyber threats.
We’re looking for a reliable professional who brings both technical depth and a collaborative spirit. The ideal candidate will have:
- Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of cybersecurity experience, with a proven focus on Microsoft enterprise environments.
- Hands‑on expertise in implementing and managing Microsoft security technologies, including Defender, Conditional Access, and Intune.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat management, and identity/access management within Microsoft platforms.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative team‑player mindset, with experience working across technical and business stakeholders.
This is a contract role. Successful candidate must be incorporated.

Duration: 6 months – possible to become permanent.
