Financial Manager, Financial Reporting

This role will oversee our client's organization’s financial accuracy and stability while leading the accounting function, financial reporting, internal controls, and performance analysis. This position extends well beyond transactional accounting. The individual in this role will build and refine financial processes, implement effective controls, and provide actionable insights that support strategic business decisions.
Responsibilities- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain adherence to Canadian GAAP and applicable tax requirements
- Serve as a trusted financial partner to ownership
- Oversee relationships with external auditors, financial institutions, and professional advisors
- Develop and strengthen internal controls across job costing, procurement, billing, and receivables/payables
- Implement structured approval processes and appropriate separation of responsibilities
- Monitor project performance and proactively address cost variances
- Partner with project leaders on forecasting and budget management
- Develop reporting dashboards and management tools
- Convert financial results into clear, decision-oriented analysis
- Oversee cash flow projections and working capital optimization
- Develop financial models to evaluate expansion and capital investments
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) considered a strong asset
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role
- Previous experience in either the Manufacturing, Construction or Logistics industries for project-driven accounting is preferred
- Thorough knowledge of job costing methodologies and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
- Track record of developing internal control frameworks and performance metrics
