A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in the Fraser Valley is looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to lead and grow their Structural Engineering function.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced structural engineer who enjoys a mix of technical leadership, project delivery, and team development
. The successful candidate will take ownership of the structural department, overseeing project delivery and mentoring junior staff while maintaining a hands-on role in design.
The majority of projects will be residential developments (approximately 80%), including single-family homes, townhouses, and multi-unit residential buildings, with additional exposure to light commercial and institutional work.
The RoleReporting directly to the leadership team, you will play a key role in leading structural engineering services and supporting continued growth of the business

Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the Structural Engineering department
, providing technical oversight and mentorship - Manage structural design and analysis for primarily wood-frame residential developments
- Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
- Act as Engineer of Record on projects where appropriate
- Coordinate with architects, developers, contractors, and other consultants
- Support project delivery from concept design through construction
- Provide guidance to junior engineers, EITs, and technologists
- Assist with improving internal standards, workflows, and QA/QC processes
- Contribute to client relationships and ongoing project development
Projects will primarily focus on residential construction
, including:
- Single-family homes
- Low- to mid-rise wood-frame buildings
- Custom residential structures
Additional exposure may include:
- Light commercial and institutional buildings
- Steel, concrete, and masonry structures
- Structural retrofits and renovations
- 8-12+ years of structural engineering experience
- P.Eng. designation in British Columbia (or eligibility)
- Strong experience with wood-frame residential design
- Experience with concrete, steel, or masonry structures is an asset
- Proficiency with structural analysis/design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP
2000, RAM, etc.) - Strong understanding of BC Building Code and local design standards
- Proven experience reviewing drawings and leading projects
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
Previous experience leading teams or managing a department would be highly advantageous.
