As a Senior Environmental Project Manager, you will lead environmental projects from concept through completion. You’ll collaborate closely with GEI’s environmental, geotechnical, and design teams to deliver practical, sustainable, and technically sound solutions for both public- and private‑sector clients.
- Manage and deliver environmental due diligence reports, including Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigations and Detailed Site Investigations in accordance with the BC Environmental Management Act (EMA) and Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR, BC Reg. 375/96).
- Lead and oversee remediation programs and site closure strategies, aligned with BC Ministry of Environment and Parks (BC ENV) requirements.
- Lead and/or provide senior technical oversight for human health and ecological risk assessments, including screening‑ and detailed‑level assessments.
- Develop proposals, budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables; ensure quality control, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction.
- Supervise and coordinate subsurface environmental field programs, including soil, groundwater, and vapour sampling and monitoring.
- Manage Soil Relocation Notification and Excess Soil Management activities in compliance with BC ENV regulatory framework.
- Mentor and support junior and intermediate environmental professionals, including providing technical guidance on risk‑based and CSAP‑supported projects.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for business development.
- Promote health, safety, and environmental excellence in all project activities.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering, Geology, Biology, Hydrogeology, or related Environmental Science.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Geoscientist (P.Geo.), Biologist (R.P.Bio.), or Agrologist (P.Ag.) in good standing.
- 10+ years of progressive environmental consulting experience, with proven success in project management, client relations, and team leadership.
- Strong knowledge of BC environmental legislation and standards, including the Environmental Management Act (EMA) and Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR).
- Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary environmental and remediation projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and report‑writing skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office, environmental data analysis, and project management software.
- Valid BC driver’s license and flexibility for occasional field travel.
- Physical and environmental requirements for this position are available upon request.
- Registration or eligibility to become registered with the Contaminated Sites Approved Professional (CSAP) Society as a Numerical and/or Risk‑Based Approved Professional.
- Experience of acting as a senior technical reviewer or mentor on CSAP‑supported numerical and risk‑based projects.
- Advanced experience with risk‑based remediation strategies, regulatory negotiations, and contaminated site closure pathways in British Columbia.
