The starting annual salary for this Teacher position ranges from $59,711 to $109,520, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

Students, parents, teachers and support staff are all important members of Jackson Elementary School. It is important that we work together positively, to make our students and school the best they can be. Our primary goal is to promote student learning and encourage a love for lifelong improvement.

  • This opportunity is a temporary UFN contract, which is subject to cancellation or extension until the teacher returns to work or June 26, 2026, whichever occurs first. In the event the teacher returns to work (work‑hardening, part‑time, full‑time), the duration and/or FTE of this temporary assignment will be amended. The successful applicant must accept the reduced work week (amended to a part‑time contract) but will have the option to remain in a temporary 1.0 FTE contract by working as a Priority TTOC on other days until June 30, 2026.
Education

& Experience
  • Elementary teacher training with major practicum/work experience at the Intermediate levels
  • Successful teaching experience at the Intermediate level
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of the Intermediate program
  • Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge and recent experience with a balanced literacy program
