Senior Accountant, Tax

Description

Senior Accountant, Tax – deliver customized tax strategies, design solutions that meet compliance and reporting requirements, and drive efficiencies for a mid‑market client portfolio.

• Prepare personal and corporate tax returns, year‑end tax forms (T4s/T5s) and other compliance slips.
• Set up client files for new accounts and newly incorporated businesses.
• Evaluate existing policies and advise on tax and policy changes to support effective business operation.
• Identify errors, investigate discrepancies, and collaborate with managers to resolve issues.
• Correspond with clients and government agencies to address tax compliance issues.
• Prepare technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings.
• Collaborate with the engagement team to discuss roles, risk areas, materiality and deadlines.
• Lead engagement teams, mentor junior members and maintain client relationships.
• Contribute to process improvements and identify new business opportunities.
• Maintain flexibility to travel as necessary.

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred).
• CPA designation or working toward CPA; completion of CFE exam and practical experience requirements considered.
• 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting or tax experience.
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act.
• Experience with accounting and tax software.
